How to list your event(s), and maintain the listing(s):

Hello! We're so glad you're interested in listing your event(s) on our calendar. Here's how to do it.

Adding a new listing:

Right on the top middle of each page, there's a + sign that says "add event" underneath it. If you're not logged in, you'll be asked to register (you don't HAVE to, but if you do you can edit your event listing later on, pause the meeting if you need some time off, change the listing info/flyer/etc). So it is recommended that you register.

Once you've done that, you have some options.

If your event is a recurring one, there's a spot on the event submission form to indicate that. You can set a listing to repeat either on the X day of the month (ie 1st, 5th, 20th, etc) or on the X day of each week (each Monday, Tuesday, etc.).* Based on what you select, the calendar will auto-create new events for you once each current listing expires.

For event location you can list an online link, an in-person venue or both ("hybrid"). To list either an in-person or hybrid event, add or select your in-person location first. A popup will appear asking you for the address, so that the site can render out a map. At the bottom of that popup will be a box for the event's online URL, if you have one.

For the event tags we only use a handful of them to sort what appears on certain listing pages, so please only use the following (any other tags will be edited out prior to listing):

  • open: any meeting that's open to anyone

  • focused: any meeting that's specifically for people who currently or formerly used drugs, and/or currently/formerly drink or drank.

  • specialized: any meeting that's for any other specific group/identity that "focused" above doesn't account for. Some examples would be: parents, people with neurodivergences, gender identity, sexuality, racial identity etc. (As a rule of thumb we generally allow anyone to attend any meeting, but ask that anyone who's not of a given identity for focused or specialized meetings to participate as witnesses only. Whether or not you do this with your meeting is up to you, but if you plan to do otherwise please just list it in your meeting's description on here so folks know what to expect!)

  • online: any event that people can attend online.

  • in-person: any event that people can attend in-person. (Is your meeting "hybrid", or available both online AND in-person? Please use both the "online" and "in-person" tags!)

  • hrw: any event that uses the Harm Reduction Works script.

  • community: any event of interest to folks who attend Harm Reduction Works meetings and/or are interested in harm reduction, but the event does not use the Harm Reduction Works script. Examples of such events could be: other meetings, speaker events, movie nights, workshops, hangouts, fundraisers, etc.

Once your event is submitted, please drop an email to -- michael at cool.industries -- (this is a great event listing app, but unfortunately it's yet to offer auto notifications for new submissions!). You can also contact with any questions.

Editing an existing listing (including pausing a meeting, skipping a week/month, putting your event on pause):

Please note that these will only be options available via the website if you've created an account with us before listing an event! If you need an event edited otherwise, please contact --michael @ cool.industries--

In order to edit your listing, you'll first need to be logged in. Tap/click the door and arrow icon in the top right to get that going.

Once you're logged in, pull up the event you'd like to edit. There should be two sets of links on the right-hand side: "Admin actions" and "Recurring event actions":

Admin actions:

  • Skip: Tap/click this once if you need to de-list a single event. The following event will be created after this listings time/date expires like normal. There's no confirmation, just tap and it's done. Did this by accident? Just tap it again, and it'll be listed again.

  • Edit: Change anything about ONLY THIS SPECIFIC INSTANCE of your event. If you're doing per-event flyers, this is where you can update them.

Recurring event actions:

  • Pause: No further instances of this event will be auto-created after this one. (To restart, just go back in the event listings and find a previous instance of the event and click Resume re-start it)

  • Edit: Change the master event listing for every new meeting that's auto-listed onto the calendar after your current event listing expires.

  • Delete: No new listings of this event will be auto-created. Be careful, this can't be undone (you can always create a new listing if you delete an event accidentally!)

Notably, with this system, if you're changing the info for an upcoming event and all other instances of the same event that follow, you will have to do this twice: once on the current event listing and again on the recurring event template. (We're hoping to better streamline this in the future.)

*We can also accept listings for one-off events. And if your event repeats at some other interval we can certainly still list it--the calendar just won't be able to correctly create new listings, and you'd have to manually edit each auto-created instance of your recurring event.
